As for this scene... I was bracing myself for it because I wasn't sure what this version of the scene would be like. I don't properly remember the old version; for some reason, I thought they actually spoke and she was reassured to know Iten was alive, though was confused about him being stated to be an Eevee because the Iten she knew was a human, which alarmed those around them. I may be completely misremembering it. I don't recall it being as graphic with the tail, but this really shows her level of injury and how much more force they had to put into tying her down.
...That, or I've misremembered the whole thing and it was fairly similar to how it is now, ha. Pardon the rambling if so.

No worries, ramble away! The original version was lacking in a lot of ways, and I was definitely not happy with it. I'm having some hesitance now that the new version is out that it might be a bit much for newer and younger readers. I tried to keep the worst of it out of frame, and I know I did not succeed, so positions of speech bubbles may change in the future should it be necessary.
With smackjeeves dead, is there any way to see the old version of the comic? I remember Aqui was in a cage, and I think the diaologue was pretty similar. I hope she and Iten get to have a proper conversation at some point. She's obviously in pain and feeling very lost, and it breaks my heart!

Yes, actually! The original of 2 will be available for Free download next week toward the end of the chapter, and the original and new versions are on my Patreon as well! I know the site is kind of buggy, at least for me, but search for the 'Download' tag, and you should find it.

I will enjoy this story slowly until I catch up.

These last 5 pages are so memorable to me. The paneling is incredible and the dialogue delivery is so impactful. you can really hear the desperation, the sorrow, and the grief Aqui feels. Her actions intensify it incredibly so, too. Her calling out for Iten after hearing his name, beginning to thrash, calling herself his auntie aqui, which i assume is a name/term of endearment Iten gave her or perhaps one she gave herself, which shows just how much one loves the other while also showing her desperation to see him, someone she loves, to let him know its her, because shes so lost and knows her trainer is dead so shes trying so hard to reach someone she does know, who she just learned is still alive which is SO utterly heartbreaking. I absolutely cannot wait for Aqui to be able to talk to Iten. I already love her so much.
sorry for rambling. i might not make sense bc this came out more cohesive in my head but my god i love this.
Just a Note Here

I did want to bring up something on this page though: A friend of mine suggested this comic to another friend of his and while we were only seeing if he liked it, he wrote a full pro-con review of the story thus far and I actually loved that.
I'll bring it up at the final page note, but wanted to touch on it here: Humans depicted thus far have been displayed very narrowly. This was, and is done on purpose to help convey differing perspectives. Returning readers are already aware, but newer ones may not have the same experience, and that's okay. Like I said, I'll get a little more longwinded on the final page; and before I go for this page, I have some homework for you! Totally optional! (just for brownie points)
How do you typically play Pokemon? Do you name your companions or leave them be? How do you grind for EXP? And for returning readers: Knowing what you know now about where we're headed, how does this scene affect you? Does it differ from when you first recall reading it?
There are no wrong answers, and every honest play is worth a gold star.
Meme runs are worth a thumbs up and a silly face
