This chapter took the longest to rewrite by far, and between this and the original, a lot's changed. It follows that same story beats, sure - Enter New Hope, Felix confrontation, Varuka exit, Aqui Entrance, Aqui Freak out, Leave, Mew. But the flow and overall impact have changed drastically, and I like to think it's for the better.

The main thing that made it take so long was Aqui's freak-out. She's grievously injured, blinded from an attack that she took from the advice of a human that wasn't her trainer to save her Human, only to find out it was for naught, because the entire boat sank into the sea in the end anyway; and yet she hears the voice of someone she knows, someone that's part of her family, and that glimmer of hope reignites in the most active and self-destructive way it could in this situation. In the end, it's her weakness, brought on from injuries and grief, that take that fight out of her body, and cause a further lapse into herself. This scene was always very important to me, and here's why: The Humans you've met thus far have been either naïve or downright sadistic, and that is 100% on purpose.
The thing I wanted to convey in Chapter One and throughout the story is the idea of Perspective. And how that can colour your view of events based on the lense used. Say you were a trainer, a shiny hunter, and EV trainer, or a Nuzlocker in the Pokemon world. All very real methods people use to play the game outside the normal experience. Say you were a Pokemon in that same world. How do these differing perspectives colour your view of the other's actions?

I know this is pretty hamfisted, and I don't want to come off as the Aggressive Narrator that gets offended when someone misses the point like I have in the past. I will take the fall for my previous actions, and formally apologize if and when I came off that way.

I've learned a lot while writing Mitigation, a lot more than I could have imagined when I started. Drawing comics is hard, writing is hard, creating anything is hard and requires a lot of patience and dedication not just to write a plot, but to create a story that you feel needs to be told. I learned that having a community filled with real people that have vastly different life experiences to my own will sometimes not be happy, and other times they couldn't be more pleased. It's a delicate balance between satisfying the masses and staying true to what I want my story to say. And, love it or hate it, that Gnome is staying.

Chapter Three is the final one that will be revamped, and while Four will get some dialogue changes, the visuals won't be too different. I'm still debating if/how the update schedule will change until we get caught back up, but that's a problem for future me.
For now, I'll be taking a two week break to finish planning out Three and to supliment content, I'll try to stream at least once a week until we're back up. Days and Games will vary as I don't really have a schedule, but I know I'll be streaming tomorrow for sure.

Do take care, and I hope to see you all again soon

Congrats on finishing chapter 2!

World building is really hard. So much thought and planning and care goes into creating a cohesive world. I think an often underappreciated part of the creative process is all the effort that goes into making sure everything fits together properly.

I don't know to what extent I swallowed a huge spoiler just by reading the author's comment, but for now I will stay tuned to understand what he refers to.
